The annual 2009 ACSP Conference will be in Crystal City, Virginia on October 1st. On this 50th Anniversary of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP),  UC Irvine's Planning, Policy and Design will be holding a reception at the conference.

UN releases report on the impact of natural resource management on peacebuilding

For the past three years, the Center for Unconventional Security Affairs (CUSA) has been working as part of an Expert Advisory Group to the United Nations Environment Porgramme (UNEP) on Environment, Conflict and Peacebuilding. This group was assembled to help the UN system, through UNEP, develop ways to better integrate natural resources and the environment in ways that contribute to peacebuilding. The first output of CUSA's work with UNEP has just been released and was featured at a launch event at the United Nations Environment Programme's Post-Conflict and Disaster Management Branch in Nairobi, Kenya last Friday. Reassessing the American dream: UCI-hosted symposium examines the future of U.S. real estate and urban development policy after housing's fall

The Feb. 19-20 symposium is sponsored by UC Irvine's Paul Merage School of Business Center for Real Estate and the MacArthur and Rockefeller foundations. Noted economics professor Karl Case is scheduled to deliver the keynote address. The event will be held in partnership with a housing policy conference at the Furman Center at New York University.

Kerry Vandell, Center for Real Estate director, organized the event along with UCI professors Marlon Boarnet and Jan Brueckner. Here, Vandell discusses real estate and how the symposium can benefit the new administration. See the entire UCI feature article below:
