Ocean Acidification: Science, Law, & Governance

The Toward a Sustainable 21st Century series is sponsored by the Newkirk Center for Science and Society, the School of Social Ecology, and the School of Law.

The program will focus on issues surrounding ocean acidification and its major impact on the West Coast of the United States. The emphasis will be on options for preserving the precious aquatic habitat and the threatened shellfish industry. The problem is global, but the threats are compelling and urgent in the states of Washington, Oregon, and California.

Communicating Science Workshop

This training workshop is being offered to graduate students to help them with effective ways to communicate their research to broader audiences. Dennis Meredith, who has worked as a science communicator at MIT, Caltech, Cornell, Duke and the University of Wisconsin, will lead the first workshop featuring his book: Explaining Research - How to Reach Key Audiences to Advance Your Work (Oxford University Press).
